Innovation and Discovery Center at Ursinus College

The primary mission of the new 42,000 gross square foot, $20 million Innovation and Discovery Center (IDC) is to promote interdisciplinary STEM education and undergraduate research at Ursinus College.

In this presentation, representatives from the College, architect, and contractor will discuss the unique forces that shaped the IDC.

Their discussion will focus on how the IDC’s academic mission, organizing principles, design goals, and construction challenges all came together to make a truly ambitious, once-in-a-generation facility for Ursinus College.

The IDC functions as a “link” building between two existing buildings – Pfahler Hall (home of chemistry, physics/astronomy, math/computer science, and environmental studies) and Thomas Hall (home of biology and psychology) .      By linking these two buildings, the IDC creates a unified science and technology center for the campus.
